ive been reading alot of bottle line sim questions/answers on here, bout timers/counters/bit shift.

im just wondering beacause im not quite sure on how to use bit shift registers does anyone have a tiny example on how to use them properly.the books i got doesnt really help me much it just gives me an idea.my way of learning is pictures rather then words.
ive seen alot of examples on the net but all there examples are large ladder logics if someone could just make a simple one up explaining bit shift would b great.

thank in advance
