micrologix 1000 software?

ayman metwally

I checked , but the only one we have is mitsubishi software. These Micrologix 1000's were programmed from the manufacturer that built these machines.

There is a slight chance that they're password protected also.
Even if you purchase the software, you may not be able to get in.

For a meer $400 or so you could buy RSLinx Single Node and write your own simple front end. RSLinx Single Node supports DDE transfers. That would let you get at the data. The KEPWare OPC server might work, too, but I never looked into that.

Thanks all for the post's!

It looks like we are going to have to buy the software. Member Ron baufort suggested that I remove the PLC and send it to someone that has the software and they could extract the data out of it. Then I could change it out to a mitsubishi PLC which we have more of here at work. Which makes sense. But it is still in production and I cant remove it. So it looks like we are dropping a thousand!

here's a quote I like , just thought I would throw it out here. I dont know who wrote it but I keep it pinned up on my board.

"Along with the devolopment comes more capability and more data, but more standards to be managed. In order to manage, you must classify. Through classification, you break down compelexity into manageble components. Classified components become objects that can be managed effectively. More and more characteristics (data) can be added to objects making them more manageable. Once manageable, they can be programmed to interact according to predictable rules of behavior using intelligence like a brain does, and hence we have intelligent objects just like intelligent people."

Like Ron said...
You don't have to buy the Full version.
The Starter version is priced a lot better, plus it comes with a 10 point PLC and switches that you can play around with. (or at least it used to)
You can go Online and see what is happening with the starter version, but you just can't do Online Edits.
Of course if the Ladder file in your existing machine is Password protected, you are gonna have to start from scratch anyhow.
In that case I'd buy a new Mitsubishi unit.

gbradley,
What I know is that the RS500 software for the starter PLC (10 points) will only work with the 10 points' ML1000.
So if the ML unit that bryanadmin is talknig about is more than 10 points -which is high possibility- the free software for the 10 point controllers won't work for him (even for uploading the code from the PLC). That's what I know!.

You can get a free version of RSLogix 500 for a specific ML1000 10 point
BUT
You can also obtain a STARTER version of RSL500 9324-RL0100ENE that costs approximately $500 . The starter version should work with any ML model and I believe some SLCs

There are also starter PAKS that include an ML1000 with RSLogix, cables etc. The software included works with any ML.

Before you buy the software maybe you should try to hire a local programmer. At least then you aren't wasting a large amount of money if the machine turns out to be password protected.

I hope it isn't too late, the software might already be on the way. The manufacturer is Buhler. It's a k-60 bead mixer. Maybe I could contact them and ask if it is password protected. That would be **** if it is!

I'll bet that the chances are pretty good that it is not password protected.

Even if is, Buhler may give it to you, or it may be real simple like ...1234?

I read somewhere recently that one of the most common passwords is password

Good Luck!

yeah I was repairing a PC on a provincial wide medical network whose access password was password. Talk about lack of security. On Mrplc.com there was a link mentioning a method of retrieving the password from AB PLC's however it looks fairly tricky to use and I have no idea if it actually works

pick up the phone ... give them a call ...

Bryan,

I’d suggest that you go ahead and contact the machine manufacturer ... sure, you can ask about the password while you’re talking to them but there is another very important reason to ask them for help ... specifically ...

assuming that you can make it past any existing password (best bet is that it’s not password protected anyway) ...

and assuming that you can get online with the MicroLogix (we can help you with that) ...

and assuming that the existing program is still intact (if the machine is operational then the program is assuredly ok) ...

then you still need to keep in mind that any user documentation (example: labels such as "limit switch X" and "pump motor A") are never stored in the processor ... so these important features will not be included in the material that you will be able to retrieve from the PLC ...

so when you talk to the machine manufacturer, you need to ask them to PLEASE e-mail you the ".RSS" file for the program ...

the ".RSS" file should contain the original programmer's user documentation (labels, etc.) and this information will definitely come in handy as you continue to work with (and modify?) the machine ...

and finally ... did you remember to order the communication cable too? ...

For what its worth, I got started with the RS 500 starter kit. It came with the software, cables, one year tech support, 10 point micro and a bunch of other useful material. I have programmed multiple 1000, 1200 and 1500 with the software. The no online was no problem as the micros don't support it anyway. As far as I know, I can also work the SLC 500.

I also got the starter kit for the micro 300 panel view. It came with same whistles and buzzers as above. The bottom line is I was able to turn key my first AB project with really no more cost then the hardware required would have cost.
