What can I do to fix this? I can still see the processor using RSlinx, so I think it maybe salvagable

Thanks,

Andrew

Just try flashing it again....

Are you using a USB to Serial converter? If so which one.... not all work well at high speeds..

I've tried a couple times and it always fails with the same error somewhere in between blocks 19 and 24 with the same error

Andrew,

This appears to be a known issue with MicroLogix controllers at FRN 4...

39526 - MicroLogix FRN4 firmware upgrade issues with ControlFlash

Hope it helps.

ML1200 firmware upgrade

This is an old post but I thought I would share my experience anyways in case it happens to help someone else.

I recently tried to update the firmware in my 1762-L24BWA. I downloaded the today version 14 firmware package from Rockwell website. I was a bit confused because the download only includes an MSI installer for ControlFlash. It turns out you need to uninstall and reinstall the older version of control flash. In my case I was able to do this but I could not see an available firmware to flash my MicroLogix up to. I determined it was my pc. I installed The ControlFlash on a virgin PC and then I was able to see the option 14 firmware. I began the download and it stopped at chunk 17, tried again and again, stopped at chunk 24, 19, 16, random numbers below 30.

All lights flashing on micro - fear of bricked PLC sets in.

Not giving up I read the technote https://rockwellautomation.custhelp.com/app/answers/answer_view/a_id/39526

I set the affinity to use only 1 processor. Still no go.

I uninstalled ControlFlash (with Firmware14) and downloaded and installed ControlFlash (with Firmware13) from Rockwell. This time starting with setting the affinity of ControlFlash to use only 1 core. I re-ran ControlFlash and saw the option for V13. I started the flash and it continued to the end. Not a brick after all. Fun times. Cheers All!
