I have an AB Micrologix 1766-L32BXB which has 6 FET and 6 relay outputs. My problem is that I just noticed that the solenoid valves (ten total) I have require Sink outputs, these valves are mounted on a manifold so I can't do anything about it. So I can use the 6 relay outputs but don't know if the FET outputs can be wired as sink, Can they? As always the machine is needed right away so buying a relay module is not an option.

If the FETs can't be used as sink then I'll go with some relays to drive the valves, which represents another problem; I've no space to mount them!

Hope you guys can help with this.

Unless using four external 24vdc relays I don't think you have any other options except rewiring the manifold for source outputs.

What valve type are they anyways?

Are they carrying some onboard circuitry?

Thanks for the reply.

It’s an SMC VQC2000 series manifold, it comes pre-wired with a positive common. It's something I didn't pick up when we ordered it. I'm going to try and see if there is anything I can do to it so we can use it with source outputs. Otherwise relays will be the way to go.
