I have a controls system that has multiple PF400's. All of them are older series A drives. They all communicate with 22-comm-e's with a Compactlogix.

I noticed that my new spare drive that I keep on the shelf is a series B and all the rest(in operation) are series A. Just wondering if there might be any issues plugging an older 22-comm-e into a new series drive? I've been looking around but haven't found any info. Normally I wouldn't worry about this, but it's AB so who knows if I'd have to do some firmware upgrade on the comm-e.
These swaps typically happen during the most inconvenient times so I'm just trying to make sure there isn't pain headed my way.

Thanks

**wanted to add that it would also be a drive firmware jump from 7.01 to 8.01

you should contact your local ab rep.
they are supposed to have a drives specialist to help with your question.
you can also open the series b unit and find tech phone number to help with your questions. tell them how many series a drives you need to upgrade over the next few years.
