I need the wiring pinout information (9 pin D sub) for a profibus cable going form a CPU to an IM-178 drive moduale.

hello!
Profibus DP:
RS 485
PIN
1-
2-
3 Dataline B
4 request to send
5 M5V ("ground")
6 P5V (supply)
7-
8 Dataline A
9-

you just need 3,5,8
to get it to work

For a trouble free installation, I would recommend
a profibus connector-6ES79720BA500XA0 PROFIBUS CONN. 90DEG.
and profibus rated wire.

Thanks Guys,

I've chechked the connections and cable.
They are all the same and still it doesn't work.
Ive got just one module connected to the Profibus so i've set both resister switches to "on".
The module connected to the "bus" is an IM178 motor module.
The module is giving me a SF an BF (Slave & Bus) Failure.
And Also The Plc is showing me the same faults.

hello!
Have you downloaded the right hardware configuration ???
otherwise you will get the faults, also check the station address..
and the supply for the module.

I have power supply on the module.
The adresses should be configured allright.
I've got the right drivers for the module.

Is there a way to do a readin (like interbus) or a hardware diagnoses.
Because i can't see what is wrong now.

Hello !
you can choose hardware diagnostics from the PLC dropdown meny and choose the station, it should tell you what is wrong.
ps. after you have downloaded the hardware settings you must at least restart the "sub" station otherwise it will not load the new settings.
