The PLC Lab book is great !!! I understand the basics, but was getting stuck with some of the programming for projects. This book sorted it out, and kept me moving.
Question, Should I use Sub Routines on his small projects ?

Which Brand and Model of PLC are you using? Subroutines are useful for dividing a Program into logical divisions. For instance Machine Sections or Machine Phases. If you are only talking about 20 to 40 Rungs, then the Main Routine should be fine. I have seen Programs with hundreds of Rungs in the Main Routine. It makes it tough to find a particular section. In some cases, it is just personal choice.
