Red lion Graphite/Crimson 3 bar code reader

I have had an interesting request from a customer. I have sold them a graphite based system and he was wondering if we can use a bar code reader to import into data fields? Any thoughts on this or has anyone ever tried it before.

If you touch the field (Tag with Data Entry allowed) on the display and then scan the barcode, it will be just the same as if you typed it. Of course, the data has to be a valid type for the field.

The issue I have run into is that the reader that I bought wouldn't always power up from the USB Port on the display (I only tried this on a G315, not a Graphite). However, there isn't any setup required to get it to work. It acts just like a keyboard (really neat actually)

I just ordered it from Amazon and it was $25.00 or so. This was just for a test and the application never panned out so I didn't try to order an industrial one.
