We have a serious problem, with a Redlion G3-10 HMI.

Last week, whilst onsite, I downloaded a revised Crimson 3 HMI program into a Redlion G3-10 HM.

Unfortunately I didn’t transfer copies of the Data-logs from the CompactFlash card before the download, as I thought that these files would be unaffected, as he had clicked “NO” to allocating a new ‘database identifier’.

But when I came to accessing the files after the download, I found that they were gone.

Is there any way to recover these data-logs?

This is very critical as the lost data is needed for an insurance claim.

PLEASE, can you respond as soon as possible!!!

Of the top of my head by clicking 'NO' you have instructed the database to overwrite the existing database file. instead of writing a new file to the CF card.

I would try any file recovery software that you can get.
I have had good results with Glary Utilities in the past, but only with computers, I haven't tried it with a Compactflash Card.

I appreciate that the database file is gone, as that what Redlion calls the HMI program itself, but the data-log .csv files are usually unaffected.

The only but to that, is that it maybe possible that Crimson 3 software may have been updated between my visit, and a previous one back in August.

A big problem is that the site is in a remote location, which makes getting at the HMI & its compactflash card difficult.

depending on how the CSV file is coded to be written.
Standard it will create a file location and file name.
I think that this Name has been reset by your program change

Well, the csv files are titled by date, and the majority of the data-logs, are daily ones, i.e. each file contains that day's data.
Now I could have expected the data-logs for the day, that I downloaded the revised HMI program to affected, but the previous few weeks worth of files should have (or I would have thought) be not affected by any reset.

The revision to HMI program was nothing to with the data-logging functions, so those file locations were unchanged.

Unfortunately the key question: Is the data still recoverable or is gone forever?

Marc,

There is no utility which we provide to recover any of the files. A third party file recovery system may work but I can't say for sure. The only way I can think of any CF files being overwritten would be if a new database identifier was assigned by accident.

Thanks
Jeremy
