Hi all,

is it safe to remove AI / AO / DI / DO card from ET200x (S) while its powered, I would like to see which OB events occur in such scenario.

Also, if DI card does not support diagnostics, does it mean that if single digital input burns out, it will not notify S7-1500?

Thanks.

ET200S does not support Removal and Insertion in Run.
And normal ET200S i/o cards do not have self-diagnostics on every channel.

"high feature" DI cards feature diagnostics messages for short circuit to ground for the group, not for the individual channel.

if you have power card with diagnostic, then select from parameters: diagnostic no load voltage.
If your DI burns fuse down, then CPU detects it and you can read OB error for power card or read status of err_led from program side and rise alarm.

Hi, thanks for the response to both of you. I did not want to try "hot swap", I wanted just to remove one module from the rack, and to subscribe to OB86 and see the information it is providing.

Basically I wanted to simulate some kind of event which was caused by some hardware problem (damaged uint, missing power supply, etc).

I do have a power card with missing L+ diagnostics, I also have AI / AO cards to have short circuit to ground per channel. and group diagnostics.

What can I do to simulate any of the above diagnostic events, while PLC is running, and still not to damage the equipment?

Remove supply for power card?
Remove AI card from rack?
Shortly connect AI positive signal to ground?
