I have a Siemens OP270 HMI unit running ProTool communicating with a PLC 317 over the MPI port. I was wondering if I can load Step 7 software on the OP270 and be able to go online with the PLC.
 
No , Sorry , but you can't . The only way that you could achieve what you want is by using a PC670 or other PC based HMI , then you could install S7 .
