Hi,

I received this SIMATIC S7-300 training kit for maintenance.

When I power it up, the PLC doesn't go to RUN mode and the STOP mode led is blinking every 1 second.

I checked the 24V regulator and it measures 23.65V, I don't know if it's ok or not.

I am guessing there is no program on the flash card.
Do you have the software and hardware to load a program on the CPU ?
This PLC has a so-called MPI port. To go online you need a Siemens PC Adapter (6GK1571-0BA00-0AA0), the programming software is STEP7 V5 or TIA V1x PRO.

NB. Do not try to use the flash card in a PC card reader !

It's a training kit, it comes with the programmer.

I just now have a small issue with the Dell PC in office that has the Step 7 lite software, it doesn't want to boot, I think it's a HDD jumper setting issue.

Hi,

Any suggestions of what could be the problem ?

I still have the same problem, when I press the MRES, the STOP LED blinks faster then it get back to the slow blink.

Still can't connect the PLC online.

I recorded this video for demonstration:

Find the Setting PG/PC Interface dialog.
Check it to see that the access point S7ONLINE is set to PC Adapter (MPI), in the extended properties, check that adapter type is set to USB.

hi, hmm it's a lot of year that I don't use the converter
s7-972-OCB20-....
what os is on pc?
There is some led on your converter how do they behave?
In the MPI tab you can query the nodes of your MPI node (the one on the PC card tries to give an address such 29 or 30 or 31) by default the CPU is 2.
The mpi address could be changed depending on the needs where you got the CPU.

The S7-300 that I have has two DSub9 connectors. The one on the right is for PROFIBUS DP and the one on the left is for MPI. Communication with the programing tool is normally through MPI. Neither your video nor you pictures let see where you have connected the USB-MPI converter because the cover is closed, but it looks like you connected in on the right. I would advice you to confirm that you have connected the converter to the MPI port, not PROFIBUS.
