SLC 5/03 to PV550

We have an old machine we are trying to get back up and running. The PLC is a SLC 5/03 and the top port is connected to a Red Lion device. Is it possible to connect a PV550 2711T5A2L1 Ser B FRN 4.46 to the bottom port on the 5/03?

Yes, the port will have to be configured for DH485 protocol.

And of-course all the proper hardware to make the connection between the PV and PLC.
Also for any future programming changes to the PLC. (PC to PLC)

You could also daisy change the DH485 port connected to your Red Lion device to the PV550. As long as they have different node addresses it should work.

Just daisy chain another piece of cable in-between the two connectors maintaining the eventual 'series' if not at the end of the trunk.

No need for a splitter it's a daisy change network.

Might be easier to use the bottom port, not sure how to daisy chain. What cable would I need to use the bottom port? It's configured for RS485 now, I looked last time I connected to it.

You would need a 1761-NET-AIC Link Coupler, a 1747-CP3 cable and a 1761-CBL-AS03 cable to connect to Port 0 of the SLC 5/03; see attachment.
