We're considering upgrading a SLC 5/04 to a CompactLogix system. We currently have 3-10 slot racks, one of them is completely full of 32 point digital input modules. It looks like the CompactLogix IO modules max out at 16 points/module, so we'll need 2 modules for each of our existing ones. Looking at the conversion system selection guide, the 10 slot conversion chassis has space for a maximum of 14 CompactLogix IO modules, but it looks like we'll need 20.
Has anyone encountered this before? Is this going to be an issue? Any ways around it short of moving modules around? The idea of doing this project with minimal re-wiring sounded really good, but if we have to start moving modules around it's going to increase the complexity quite a bit...
