Symbol LS3408 scanner RS232 to Allen Bradley 1769-ASCII Card

Hi Folks,

Hoping someone can help me out here, I am trying to configure a (Zebra/Motorola) LS3408 barcode scanner with an RS232 interface to read barcode information into an AB compact logix L24ER containing an 1769_ASCII card.

I have tried the scanner on another AB PLC type (1769 L23-QBFC1B) and it works fine. The serial port config setup is different though between the two PLCs so it is not possible to replicate exactly.

I have attached a copy of the pin-out info both for the card and the scanner.

LS3408 1769 ASCII Card
TXD 4 -------- 2 RXD
RXD 5 -------- 3 TXD
RTS 6 --| 7 RTS --|
CTS 7 --| 8 CTS --|

Pin 6-7 jumped on LS3408
Pin 7-8 jumped on 1769
Noteower connection must be supplied separately.

I would start with the above pinout based on your drawings. If it does not communicate, possibly switch the TXD and RXD signals.
