I have a TECO SG2 that when a link to the controller all is fine. When I try to read the controller I get "Commands do not match SG2 edit mode" and the software will not display the logic. After research, it appears to be a communication error of some sort. Has anyone ever experienced this? How can it be resolved? I am very new to TECO so I am unfamiliar with the correct actions to take. ANY help would be GREAT! ! ! !

I have seen comms errors with the SG2 devices before. So much so, I stopped using them. No matter what I did - switched laptops with serial ports, different USB to serial adapters, PCI card based serial ports, switched cables, changed SG2 devices... I just can't read them reliably. So I punted - I threw away the ones we had and bought a different brand. It's too bad, with such an attractive price I could have used them all over the place.

Thank you for responding . . . We currently have two others running equipment flawlessly that i connected to, read the logic and saved the file. When I got to this one however, it throws this error . . . Its driving me InSaNe! What alternative brand did you choose if I may ask? and price?

I have used several SG2s for small projects and never had any problem with them. Did you contact Factorymation's tech support??

I know people have used them successfully, but I just couldn't anymore. Could be me...

I replaced with some Unitronics devices. Turns out they are a little more money, but the ones I used had the small color HMI built-in, so it was a nice product.

TECO "Commands do not match SG2 edit mode" error

The “Commands do not match SG2 edit mode” means that the proper programming mode has not been selected (FBD/Ladder).

The 5-contact ladder program requires the SG2 have V3.6 and higher firmware.

Next, verify the firmware of the SG2, you can do this by looking at the RTC SET in the SG2 menu.
