I am using an old Micrologix 1500 with relay outputs. The manual suggests using a TVS diode, regular diode, MOV, or RC network for suppression dependent on the type of contact and load. I have several air solenoids and motor starters I will be turning on and off. I think the best component to use would be an RC snubber, but they are $6 to $7. I will need several of them. I can get a TVS diode (bidirectional) for under $3. Would this be an appropriate choice to use on the relay contacts to minimize arcing? I realize its not ideal, but I want to know if it will work and how well. Thanks!
