Trying to upgrade 316 to 319.

S7 did not allow "replace" option so I saved all blocks online, deleted the 316, added 319, configured IP and uploaded all blocks back.
CPU was running except it was not talking on DP (x2) to main PLC.
In network config the DP was on the wrong network so I changed that.
Now the new CPU will not run anymore, says error with CP342-5. Parameter assignment error. type ID not detected ID.

In the old config the CP-342-5 had a backplane connection field with MPI connection #. But this field is now missing. I think this could be the problem. How do I add it back?

Attached images of old and new projects.

Thanks

Is Input and output addresses same on both configuration for CP card.
More likely it is different I/O address, MPI address is automatically selected behind

From help file:

"For modules with their own MPI address, there is a box under "Backplane Connection" with the MPI address (does not apply to PC modules). CPs and FMs with their own MPI address have a special feature: Their MPI address is obtained automatically by the CPU, so the MPI address is displayed here simply as information and cannot be modified (does not apply to all CPU types of the S7-300). You will find more detailed information in "Help" > "Contents..." under the topic "MPI address"."

The missing MPI setting is irrelevant.
You will only find that on CPUs with MPI ports, the 319 has MPI/DP and DP ports.

What is the CP342-5 used for ?
Attaching Profibus slaves ?
Or for communicating to other systems ?
Or both ?
In post #1 you wrote
CPU was running except it was not talking on DP (x2) to main PLC.
That can be done in several ways (S7 connections, FDL connections, as DP slave, maybe more). (*)
We need a full description of what the CP342-5 is used for.

Do you have the original STEP7 project ?
Uploading (from the PLC to the PC) is a backwards way for migrating to a new CPU. I am thinking that you are possibly missing a configured connection. This is normally setup in NetPro.

*: Edit: Of course it cannot be an S7 or FDL connection since you mention it is the X2 port on the CPU, and thus not via a CP (duh !). So I am guessing the 316 was a DP slave for some other CPU as master.
That is just a side-note. The big question is the setup of the CP342-5.

resolved (kinda)

What I did was remove the CP342-5 since it only connected to a keypad which we didn't really need.
The DP port (x2) connects to the main PLC and I got that working (needed to fix the coupling on the main PLC)

Thanks for the info.
