Using 24v+ & GND to power a part-present prox sensor.

Potential short circuits shutting down the 24V power supplies or blowing fuses.

And, ina panel that the problem might not be in.
 
Why not just get a 2-wire proximity sensor ? They only cost a few dollars.



You can always drive an optical isolation relay in the panel with it if it is not compatible with your inputs.
