Is it possible to connect a PC with running WinCC Advanced or Unified to a siemens PLC such as S7-1200 across different subnets? The computers can communicate and ping each other across these networks because of the routing setup by the IT. From what I understand, connecting a Profinet IO device to the siemens PLC across different subnets via routing might not be possible. However I'm wondering if it's possible to connect a computer running SCADA (WinCC Unified) to the PLC if they're on different subnets. I believe this connection doesn't rely on the Profinet protocol and is based only on ethernet, does it?
