S5 load and transfer problem

In my S5 code I have:

M004: L DD 44
T =DAT1
BEU

My guess is that I should Load DD44 and then transfer DAT1 to DD44.
Why I guess that is because DAT1 is a IN parameter to this

Am I right or not ?
