We have a SLC 5/04 running and would like to communicate with it over Ethernet rather than run DH+ cable to it as there is a PLC5E unit close by. Is there a practical way to do this? We could convert to a SLC 5/05 but I was hoping to find a more economical way. I know you folks are pretty creative. Thanks for any suggestions or tricks of the trade.

You could prob. hook a NET-ENI serial to Ethernet converter up to channel 0 if it isn't being used.

Hope this helps
