I'm stuck!! I have the PLC program done and starting to the PV+ program. In the Communication Setup I don't see the micrologix also how do I enter the HMI tags! I have used the PV+ with ControlLogix not sure what to do with Micrologix?

Thanks
Rick

There should be no difference from the Panelview's side. You should use some protocol for the comms between these two units. Preferably, using AB products, RSLinx. Please ensure that you have the correct EDS files for the AB products in RSLinx, including comms modules and backplanes, if applicable.

A question, why do you design & develop the two entities seperately? I would always develop them in parallel, in order to ensure HMI tagging consistency and ease of reference.

Good luck. My advise, study the panelview functionality.

micrologix 1200

Manny: I did the PLC program, now I doing the PV+ program I'm loooking at the RSLinx Enterprise to setup the communication.

I take it your just going to run DF1 then if you have a 1200? Or are you using a NET-ENI card?

Lets say DF1. Go to communications setup.
Under local tab you'll see on the first line RSLinx Enterprise
Right click and choose 'Add Driver'
Highlight Serial DF1 and then OK
Change PLC 5 to SLC or Micrologix
Check 'Use Auto Config'
click OK

If you have RSLinx open and are communicating with the 1200 your DF1P2P that you just created should browse and see the PLC.

Are you with me so far?

P.S. Don't forget to add a device shortcut in the left pane.

You don't have to go DF1 on this controller. You can "add" an additional port to the 1200 controller to directly communicate with your HMI. Once achieved, networking and RSLinx becomes relevant.

New Problem, When I open a exisiting application in FactoryTalk View Studio - Machine Edition. A window pops up: RSLinx Enterprise--- An internal error has occurred. You must close RSView and Stop the RSLinx Enterprise service before continuing. Failed to find the topology node in configuration

I'm not sure what to do next, I have Stopped RSLinx. But when I restart FactoryTalk I get the same Message

Do you have the 4.xx software? I used to have problems with that also.

Try this, go to control panel from the start menu. Then Administrative tools, then double click services. From the list go to Factory Talk and change settings to manual startup.

See if this helps.

I change the setting to manual and still have the same message when I open a application. The release Ihave is 5.00.00 (crp9)

Hey bubbleship,

WOW, never would of guessed Rockwell having a problem with software! I think the old Army verbage "hurry up and wait" works for Rockwell. Hurry up and release the software and Wait for the fixes.

Thanks for posting the fix.

Merry Christmas and Happy Hollidays to all.
