Pc -pv 550

HI EVERYONE
I have tried to connect laptop running win xp sp3 having serial port (com1)to panel view 550 having DH-485 port.My com interface is AB 1747-pic and I have configured rslinx using 1747PIC driver.
I have tested the interface with slc processor 5/03 result ok and rslinx found the processor but I do not know why it can not find the 550. Any advice and thank you all in advance

Please post the complete catalog number of your PV.

Baud rate must be the same, node addresses must be different.

After my post I realized something is missing here. I knew that I did upload/download with 550 a few years back without any problem but why now. Anyway make the story short one cable from pv to plc was missingwhich I did not pay attention as I thought the larger port being printer. It was connected and both nodes (PLC-PV550) were visible on rslinx. For your info pv550 is 2711-B5A5 key/touch with DH-485 terminals.

We recently replaced the PC's in our lab with new ones running XP sp3. After the upgrade we experienced similar problems with the PIC driver. When I spoke with AB tech support, they indicated to me that SP3 had created conflicts with the PIC driver and recommended that I uninstall SP3 or upgrade the adaptors to the USB model. The uninstall remedied the issue.

Thanks Mickey, I still have three more comps. to replace, maybe I'll give that a shot...these machines are "born with SP3", I noticed some comment about this in the other thread, wondering if I'll encounter the problem Okie mentioned...

Actually I should clarify, I didn't uninstall SP3 as these were "born withs", I removed the OS and installed an earlier version

I had problem with pic driver on xp sp3 till I found the file to fix the PIC issue by dmroeder on this forum. Once you run this file on your pc then pic driver works great in addition you must have serial com not USB port. Thanks dmroeder for your great work you are really a life saver. To get the file refer to post #6.
