I have a Radio Modem and a Land Line Modem that need access to the same RS232 db9 port. Its the only free port I have and I cannot expand. Only one device will use the port at a time. The issue is I want to control which device has access to the port remotely, that said I have to have them both hooked up at the same time. Is this possible? Can I just split out the single db9 port into two ports to plug the devices into?

I have used an RS232 switch from B&B Electronics. It was not controlled remotely though. Port 1 (in our case an incoming modem) had priority but if it was not active Port 2 (a local HMI for us) could use the RS232 connection to the PLC.
