Steve Kemp Member S Join Date Nov 2003 Posts 122 Jan 10, 2006 #2 If your triac is just a "standard" three-leg type and not an opto-isolated package, then use a Motorola (or equivalent) MOC3020 or MOC3041 opto-isolated triac as a trigger for the main triac. The data sheet shows how to connect it.
