I have the Ethernet/IP specification from the ODVA but I don't see an explanation of how to retrieve tags in a ControlLogix PLC?

Am I missing it or is there additional documentation on this?

Retrieve them to what? For a PC you usually use some software such as RsLinx Single Node, Oem, etc

If it is another device can you give us the part number?

Retrieve them to PC running my own application. I'm not using a 3rd party driver. Writing my own driver.

You need the Logix 5000 Data Access Manual.

Writing drivers of any kind isn't easy, and you'll always be money and time ahead licensing a driver from a company like Pyramid Solutions or Real-Time Automation.

Non-Windows libraries for EtherNet/IP can be found in Ron Gage's ABEL library.

I understand completely. Once I have evaluated everything, I may end up going that route.
