Hi,
I bought me an Optimate 1500 with software from ebay. I like to hook it up to Micrologix 1000. I would appreciate it if I could have some example and sample programs. I checked out automationdirect.com but I need more info. I'm not PLC guru, I'm just a novice.
Thanks

If it's like the smaller optimates I have used, it will constantly read and write to addresses in the Micro that you choose when you program the unit. You will need the correct communication cable and you'll have to set the baud rates in both devices to match, too.

The manual referenced above will have examples for use with Allen Bradley SLC communications which should be the same for your micrologix.

One quirk I found with the units I have used is that they will overwrite the Micrologix values when communications are initiated. There is a workaround for that if it is a problem in your application. The workaround lets you force the optimate to read the values from the micrologix first. This may not apply to your specific model, and it may have been changed in recent years.

Good Luck!
Paul
