We are attempting to communicate to Channel 0 of a SLC505 over our SCADA system. In setting up the port I was puzzled by the system and user settings. Could someone give a brief explanation, the help files don't.

System mode makes the port respond to the DF1 protocol commands, such as when getting online with RSLogix.

User mode makes it a generic ASCII port that requires ladder logic code to send and receive information.
