Does anyone know where I can find a syntax description of Siemens Step 5?

Not sure what you mean by syntax description.

With the syntax I mean an overview of the Step 5 STL operations. I want to compare STL Step 5 with STL Step 7. As far as I know is that there are some differences between Step 5 and Step 7.

S5 To S7 STL Instructions

Here is a link to the S5 to S7 conversion manual.
In the Apendix is a complete list of S5 STL instructions with the equivalent S7 STL instruction.

There is also a list of S5 instructions that cannot be converted.
