I have a used panelview 550 touchscreen/keypad. cat# is 2711-b5a5l1 ser f rev g frn3.30. I got it used and am trying to cominicate directly to it via the rs 232 port. I have so far been unable to. I am useing the rslinx rs-232 df1 driver using slc-cho/MICRO/PANELVIEW config. in the devices menu for config. drivers in rslinx. Any ideas. I am new to this, my first panel view and not sure how to do this.

Your PV has a RS232 port but its protocol is DH485. You will have to use
the 1747-PIC/AIC+ driver. You will need to have a real serial port to use this driver and a straight thru cable. Or a 1747-UIC ( USB to DH485 converter).
