i'm wondering if its possible to get a wireless connection for inputs and outputs at 100ms or faster at 15metres distance,
we are using contrologix 5000 communicating with a plc500 at the moment but we wont to get rid of the cabling between two pieces of equipment.

Cheers

It is possible with an industrial wireless product with good line of site. Prosoft has some nice ones I know work

But personally, I would build a better guard around the cable or reroute it.

What is the in the 15 meter opening? It's not an aisle is it?

unless you absolutely need it i would stay away from wireless. you introduce alot of variables. That is just my opinion.

CLX = ControlLogix.

I am sure that you can achieve 100 ms cycle time with Ethernet/IP.

I agree with the comments of the others, that you should only do it if you absolutely have to.
If there is an energy chain for example, you wont achieve much by putting the i/o on wireless.
If on the other hand, it is a battery driven freely moving "vehicle" of some kind, then it would be a good idea.
I know at least one company that is making wireless i/o for exactly such a vehicle.

We are just getting tired of replacing the control cabling as production personel keep removing the machine during a clean and rip the cables and plugs out and also damage the socket outlets.
