One of my team members is working on a rather large RSView32 project. He has about 50 tags on a template page that will be updated via a parameter file. The trouble is there are >1,500 tags for the parameter file (thats more than the 500 limit)

So, my question to you gurus is: Can the parameter file name be specified in a string tag, or somehow else dynamically changed?

Thanks for any help

Greetings terry and welcome to the forum.

1500 tags is way more than you can practically display on a single screen. The 500 parameter limit is even greater than you can realistically present on a single screen.

If a template page has 50 parameter tags then only 50 tags are needed in the parameter file.

Parameter files allow you to re-use the same graphic for displaying similar data.

For example, you might want to display data on twenty different tanks in a tank farm. You create one graphic display page which can then be loaded twenty different times with twenty different parameter files - but only one graphic has to be created instead of twenty different graphics.

Thanks Alaric, but I should expand a little more:
*The template screen shows 50 Power Meter parameters
*There are 30 power meters on the network, so thats my 1500 tags

Can the parameter file name be "passed" in using a macro?
I say stuff doing it all in the HMI and do it the "old fashion way" in the PLC.
