I hope you have a backup of the PLC program.
what is he error indication - if any

You will need to purchase a new one unless there is someone willing torisk doing a repair at your site

hopefully one of the Siemens expts can answer that - there are too many varitions - without the catelogue I don't know

Why it is not possible to replace 6ES7 407-0KA01-0AA0 with
6ES7 407-00DA01-0AA0 this?

Got no catalog (eg: I'm too lazy to browse the siemens web sites right now

), general speaking:

It IS possible if:
0: It is found in the HW manager and can be dropped to the PS place.
1: The amp rating is sufficient.
2: You have a power source that fits.
3: If the new one is broader and need more space, you will have to reconfigure the HW Config and download it.

The replacement is a 4A unit and takes one slot in the rack - the kaput one is a 10A unit and occupies two slots.
