DNP3 communication RJ45 to fiber

Hello, I wonder if I'll lose some data by converting DNP3 communication via RJ45 to fiber module RuggedCom?
It has been observed that a thick bead of silicone caulking around the RJ-45 connector keeps all of the data in. But we have had some problems with inferior Fiber optic wire nuts.
