on a XP PC we were using ABKF2 to talk to a motion controller on a DOS PC emulating PLC5. This driver would not work on Windows7 so we tried the DF1 driver from Kepware and Ingear. In both cases we can access the Boolean tags but none of the Integer or real tags.

Was your Win7 problem that it would not install?
I am pretty sure you can copy the complete installation directory from your XP machine to a Win7 machine & just run the application from there..
Hopefully this works for you.

Welcome to the Forum !

It's likely that the PC-based motion controller implemented only a subset of the PLC-5 command set, and the modern drivers might automatically substitute an SLC command or a different PLC-5 command.

In my opinion, the best way to solve the problem is the capture some of the serial traffic from the existing machine and determine exactly which DF1 function codes are being used, and compare those to the DF1 function codes used by the newer software.
