Communicating with a PLC 5 ?

Good Morning,

What is the best way to communicate with a PLC 5 processor ? I have a D3-DSCBL-2 cable . Would that work ? If so , which driver ? I am trying to use a 1784-PCM6/B cable with a AB_KT-1 / PCMK Driver. No luck.

Which model PLC5?
The PCM6 cable gets you in to the DH+ port.
I don't know what the D3 cable is and haven't time to research it.
Have you used your PCMK card on anything else?
You made sure that when you chose the KT1 driver, that you chose PCMK as the Device and DH+ as the network(from what you wrote, I believe you did).
Did you try the Auto-config - I know some of the networks have an auto-config mode; I don't recall if the DH+ does. You may have to check your network speed as well - 57.6k should be the common one.

That answer depends on which PLC5 model you have & comms hardware on hand. My preferred order would be Ethernet, DH+ and serial as a worst case scenario.

Network - DH-485 ( it says card supports DH+ also ). In diagnostics it is sending and receiving packets. Node 8 is found. Who active , go online in RS Logix 5 I am looking for Online to go bold. No go. It seems like everything is good.

Your PCM6 cable is for DH+, not 485. Have you tried selecting that network?

A D3-DSCBL-2 cable is for a Direct Automation PLC. It would work with the serial port on your PLC5 if it has one. Its just a null-modem cable.
