High speed fuse testing

I had a buddy call me an ask me what I know about high speed fuses and how to test them, I assume you can do continuity, resistance or voltage drop testing as a normal fuse. Am I missing something? I mean it is still a fuse from what little I know it is just a different design and different alloys. he tells me he is getting kilo-mega ohm resistance reading.

No, that's way too high for a 40 amp fuse.

Edison (Eaton?) reports their resistance as "Watt Loss", meaning the number of watts the fuse consumes at full load. For this fuse that number is 8 watts. This works out to be 5 milliohms of resistance (40 x 40 x .005 = 8 watts).
