1784 u2hdp not going online PLC5/40

I connected PLC 5/40B processor to win Xp3 PC using U2Dhp cable. I was able to see processor connected on RSLINX 2.57.
But I am not able to get RSLOGIX5 online with the message DiagnosticStatus failed: Sts= 0X05 Application Layer Timed Out(No reply)

Have you tried to see who's online from the communication menu of RSLogix, I suspect your path is different from the one saved in the project.

No I changed it using SYSTEM COMMUNICATIONS.
I set the u2hdp adapter to 57kbps.but it doesn't get connected. What is the meaning of Diagnostics.

If you can see the PLC in RSlinx, then you had the right baud setting. I usually have to play around with the adapter, plug in, pull out a few times before I get a good connection. But, if I can see it in rslinx, I can go online.
