I am having issues going online with a PLC in RSlogix5000. I need to pull the file from the processor for backup before we take the cell offline. We have never been online with the cell before but outside vendors have.

When I try to go online, I get an error that says "The controller I requested contains firmware revision 32.14. RSLogix 5000 support for this revision is not installed." I have versions 17-20 installed on the computer and the Rockwell download center comparison says they are compatible. Am I missing something that I need an early version? How do I know which version I need installed

In order to go online you need to have installed the (major*) software revision matching the firmware of the PLC in question. Since the controller has firmware 32, you need software revision 32.

I believe you should be able to upload and save a backup regardless, but your version must match to actually go online. You may have issues restoring the backup without a v32 installation regardless.

*There were some broken compatibility issues for minor revisions in v20 & 21, I mention them here for completeness, not because they're relevant to the current issue.

I was looking at RSlogix 5000 versions and couldn't find it when I looked earlier. Completely forgot about the Logix Designer section of the downloads. I figured I was missing something simple. Thank you
