AB 1784-PKTX Card

I am having some trouble getting a PV+1250 with a 2711P-RN6 RIO adaptor to communicate with a PLC-5/20.

So after a call to AB and a lot of try-this, they said it could be the adaptor. Being the inquisitive sort, I removed the adaptor from the PV+ to see if there were any loose connections or anything else. Then I realized that this was just a 1784-PKXT card with a right angle adaptor.

I tried just the card in a PC and it showed up as a network card.

The 2711P-RN6 costs us $329 USD, how much is the 1784-PKTX card?!

Anyway, still can't get the PV+ to talk to the PLC-5, No com lights on the adaptor card. But communication is fine from the PLC to a PV 1400E.

329 USD for a "PKTX" card. That is an incredible bargain ! I dont know the US list price for a 1784-PKTX, but over here the list price is approx 1500 USD. Discounts can be significant, so 600-800 USD is a "normal" net price I guess.

Is the 2711P-RN6 card physically so similar that it could be used in stead of a 1784-PKTX ?

edit: In the same pricelist where the 1784-PKTX is listed at 9210 DKK (1500 USD), the 2711P-RN6 is listed at 2260 DKK (380 USD). So I guess your price is correct.
It would be very very interesting to know if the 2711P-RN6 is really a PKTX in disguise.

I belive the 2711P-RN6 is a 1784-PKTX card, as I said, I removed it from the adaptor case and plugged it into a PCI slot in a PC and got a "New Hardware Found-Network Adaptor" message when it booted up--I did'nt continue with the setup but I thought that was kind of definitive.

Also, the label on the back of the card was the company which makes the 1784-PKTX card.
