Okay here we go. I am new to this and I need to know the easiest method to mate an Micrologix 1100 to and Automation Direct with RS232. I have a Lantonix converter. But is there an easier way?

Just add a small ethernet switch, then you can connect the PLC, HMI and your programing PC all to the switch using CAT5 cable with RJ45 connectors.
(Standard ethernet patch cables)

EA-MLOGIX-CBL

This is the easiest way. I am not a big fan of converter they are not robust specially cheaper versions. So get the hmi with ethernet port or use 232 cable.

690$ maple hmi is the best in price.

Is there an option to go from RS232 to Ethernet with a cable or would I need to use a converter? If so what is a good option to use.

Posting late last night and did not look up your model number for the HMI before posting.

Looks like you do not have Ethernet on you HMI, so the link to the RS232 cable will be the way you want to go with this application.

The easy way using the cable.

But you must try lantronix too shouldn't be too hard since you already have it.
Find another cable at automation which one end is DB9 and connect to lantronix.

What lantronix model you have?
