What class and division is a boiler room typicaly considered to be in most cases?

I ask becasue of boiler chemicals used to keep the ph level correct and scale reducers, etc.

here would I find this information. In this facility it is not classified and never has been from what I can find.

I'm not sure of your position in your company, but in case you are just electrical specialist I don't think it is up to you to define or evaluate an area rating.
But as far as my experience tells me - it should not be hazardous, since the burner flame may be exposed at least partially in to the room. If you are not sure about chemicals - it should not be stored in the boiler room

Class and division per electrical code ie NEC would be based on the fuel source ie gas diesel bunker etc. I do not recall any special wiring in general boiler room area with gas fired boilers. On the gas handling components probably so.

Regarding the boiler chemicals they are going to be water soluble in all cases and therefore non flammable in most cases. One exception may be hydrazine which at one time was used for boiler chemistry - not sure about now.

I see no reason not to allow boiler chemicals to be stored and used in boiler room. They are all going to be basic in nature ie pH > 7 so separation is not needed from a chemical storage safety aspect.

They can be pretty caustic so standard gloves goggles and a eyewash and shower are definitely needed.
