Ethernet communication S7 300 - Imaje labelprinter

Hello,

Can somebody tell if there is a way to communicate directly between an S7300 CPU with an CP343-1 Lean ethernet module and an Imaje 2000 series label printer connected to ethernet?

I've read something about using XCL commands for reading out the status messages of the printer.

How do you program this in the PLC?
Do I need extra tools, software for this?
