FTView Studio ME, string input prefill

Hi, does anyone know if there is a way to pre-fill the keyboard pop up used to input strings in FTview Studio ME? (v8.0)

I have to allow operators to edit a 16 character string if a camera read fails and I would much rather not have them type it in from scratch if possible...(n)

I've looked up and down and I couldn't find it anywhere, or think of any other method to accomplish this other than dedicating a whole screen to make a single character by character edit menu...
