Got a900 hmi

I have a Mitsubishi A985 GOT HMI and I am trying to upload from GT designer 2. I have a USB to serial connector the driver has been installed and communications tried. I get a time out error real quick. I have a PCMCIA card in the HMI but did not remember if I should switch the switch from read card to do not read card on the back of the HMI. Any help would be great.. Hilton
