Does anyone have experience in setting up a comms link via GPRS?

I have a set of 6 Compactlogix L35E and 6 Panelview 700+ all networked via fiberoptic Ethernet. I need to hook up to the devices on the network from time to time, but it is not easy to get a telephone line installed, so I figure a GPRS link would do the trick.
What kind of equipment should/could be used and what to look out for?
