Hey Phil

We could if we wanted to.

All I know about craps is that together with Black Jack if you know how to play, you have only .5% disadvantage vs the house.
I have seen a guy on TV who could control the roll of the dice and he at one point was able to roll the dice for 45 min. before he crapped out. Now that guy actually holds an edge vs the house. Similarly if you can count cards ,Hi / Low being the best known and used system, you can also hold an advantage over the dealer in Black Jack. I can count but not fast enough, need a lot more practice. Apparently you need to be able to count the deck in 20 secs, I can only do it in 58 secs. I have an MIT team's CD where I can see that it can be done.
Playing craps and Black Jack really well means that you will lose at much slower rate. I think that they said that it took the guy
5 years of practice before he could control the roll of the dice.
So if you have to gamble then try these two games but prepare yourself well.
WOW.

That's a new one on me.

And to think I've been doing that all this time not knowing it was bad luck.

You mean talking about 7's at a craps table, or the mirror thing? If you meant the former, you were probably on the verge of being killed by the craps players.

A few words on house advantages. First, if you play the don't pass line on the craps table, I think you have the advantage. Its basically like you are turning the game around and you are playing the houses odds. But, it is boring, you can't lay any other bets, and others at the table wont like you.

Second, just in case someone was not aware, dont let the house know you are counting cards at the BJ table. It's not illegal, but they will tell you it is and ban you from thier property. Then, they'll put your picture in a book and you'll be banned from all casinos. I've been subconciously counting cards since i was a child. Way before i ever heard of the MIT guys. When my dad taught me how to play the game he taught me the importance of the face cards, so i kinda started keeping track of how many had been played. I've never kept actual counts, but i always have a good idea what the odds are that the next card will be big or small. I won't play at the tables that use machines and shuffle after every hand.

Third, mini baccarat is supposed to have like a 1% house advantage no matter how poorly you play it. (I mean, unless you start taking the circus bet, i think in that game the circus bet is betting on the hand being a tie). Thats why high rollers seem to like it so much. But again, that game is so boring, I once dreamed i was playing it and fell awake.

I come from a strange (or unique) background, I am very familiar with gambling. The procedure mentioned above with dice is called placing, very frowned upon and not allowed in most games i.e. if the dice "rattle" there is no control.

I like card games, *****, koon can, rummy, bid whist, spades, hearts, bridge, pinochle, and more. I have played all of them for money at one time or another. Won bridge and pinochle tourneys as a teen, won ***** tourneys when barely not a teen, gave it up for many years though.

Look at the Carnival thread, there is a link to terms used in the business. One term is G-top, its a traveling casino/bar that went with a carnival, few marks (town people) got to go but there were exceptions.

I do not have to but I am going to apologize, I do not belong in y'alls world. I think I will remedy that now.

Damn, Ron!

Now I'm really curious as to what card-games you play that are censored??

Can you... S-P-E-L-L the games?

Edit...

Oh, nevermind... it must be C*R*A*P*S... or is it?

..."Social Engineering" comes to mind... those that know, will know... if you know what I mean.

I apologize for my ignorance in the gambling field. I just thought it sounded funny, the whole looking in the mirror thing and chanting 3 times....

BUT I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE WAY IT WAS DELIVERED
I'm with Git on this one.
There is a time and a place for that kind of expression.
This ain't the time nor the place.

The posts that I read on PLCS.net have helped me do things correct so many times in the past.

I like to view posts at work.
It usually takes a few seconds of my time.

Bold Red letter profanities are not what I come here for.
I had to turn off avatars. In my opinion a very few of them are NSFW.

The avatars here? What church do you work at?

That is just plain wrong and insulting. People may be offended by certain things, it is their perogative what they view or read. I would probably have made a public issue of the avatar issue but George handled it in another manner; which was far more mannerly then any procedure most of us would have used. It is definitely far more mannered than that comment.

I do not go to church or preach the gospel, that does not mean I do not believe the gospel is all wrong in what it says i.e. thou should not steal, thou should not covet etc...

I PERSONALLY do not like Kotex commercials on TV so I change the channel, nice quiet choice I have BUT I could make it a public issue and picket line the TV station etc but it is not that big an issue to me

I come from and live in a "crude" world, I do not have the same values or thoughts that George has...to my regret. I can be very crude, mean, and just plain nasty but my Momma taught me to respect others and their views, I just have a tendency not to follow those teachings....GEORGE does....HOORAY FOR GEORGE, a real GOOD PERSON.

That is a big problem in the world today, everyone wants to condemn another for their beliefs. Why not obtain your own beliefs and morality instead of condemning those that already have them?

This thread started out of curiousity, nothing more. I could not understand why damn or hell could be stated but c r a p could not, in my world all of those are everyday words. In some peoples world they are crude and offensive words not to be seen or spoken...that could be a nicer world then mine, I wish I knew.

I see someone changed into his sensitive pants... I personally thought Chuck was just pointing out that the avatar's on this site are pretty tame, with his own little creative spin on the comment.

Maybe Phil should block the word c-h-u-r-c-h since so many people 'round here get offended whenever the word is brought up.

Did not have anything to do with church...BTW I am the one that tends to rant when church or religion is mentioned.

I know the avatar George did not like, did not matter to me BUT George is a moral person, something many of us should be but are not.

Thing is I am always sensitive BUT (that dam word) the subjects I tend to be sensitive to many of you take for granted.

That's where I was going. but in this day and age, too many people are of the mindsetthat they have a right to not be offended. Couple that with the fact that a high horse is easy to mount on "teh internets". However I can't see how that high horse ride could be comfortable with ones panties in a bunch.
