Kinetix 5500

Keep in mind that control power is separate from line power. I've seen this once before where a circuit breaker popped. Maintenance thought the drive died...

I just flipped the circuit breaker back on, asked them if this is how it should be? Yep... they got a bill.

If I'm not mistaken, the LCD display is driven by control power, same as the LEDs. The LCD is on. Line Power would be for the motor derivative power. I know that's how it is on 6500 and 5700 common bus racks....not sure about the 5500.

Yes, K5300-K5500 have separate 24vdc control power and not line power like others that derive power from line. Control power and line power are separate issues. If either goes, nothing happens. If control power works, you get blinky lights on the control module.

In this situation, the control module could be toast, (in correct context) but I would at least check it.

All rack based 6500 and 5700 have the same. Separate 24v power for the module control. What I was saying is that in those systems, the LCDs are powered by control power. In the OPs pictures, the LCD is on. So that leads me to believe that the control power is okay, IF they share the same module architecture as the 5700/6500.

But agree, in my first posts, I asked OP to check incoming powers. Hopefully, he checked both when he confirmed power was good.

These two drives have red STO physical inputs plugs wired up, so they're probably using ordinary Safe Torque Off instead of CIP Safety.

If you look closely at the first picture you can see the LCD displays are showing something, but the backlight is off. These drives turn off the backlight after a while; you can reactivate it by pressing the leftmost button. My guess is that the MOD and LED lights are in between flashes when the photo was taken.|

In the second photo you can see the information on the screens:

STANDBY
192.168.5.104
DC Bus 325.4 V

CONNECTING
192.168.5.103
DC BUS 295.4V

That suggests that both the logic power and the AC mains power are on, and that the problem has to do with the logical or network connection to a Logix-family controller. But there's no other context or detail provided other than "I need help".

The difference between the DC buses makes me wonder if maybe one of the drives is "single phasing" and has one blown input fuse.

STANDBY and CONNECTING are both phases of the CIP connection process. There might be an identity mismatch, or a network problem, or any number of other logical issues.

Roodly, welcome to the PLCTalk forum community. There are a lot of folks here who enjoy troubleshooting, and know the Logix and Kinetix products well. I happen to be working on a system with 36 Kinetix and 12 Compact GuardLogix on it today.

Please provide as much context and detail as you can. A few photos and an appeal for help give us a general idea of what's going on, but a brief history and summary of the details would be even more helpful.
