L551 B faults out when battery is in

Hello
I have an Allen-Bradley l551 Ser. B
The plc faults out with a solid red LED, but when I remove battery it's good.
I did the reset, ground to VBB but no difference
Any ideas?

Is there an EPROM memory module inserted ?
That would be a grey plastic thingamabob next to the battery.

The flashing Fault lamp is the normal when a CPU is completely reset at powerup (edit: So no flashing Fault after a complete reset and with battery is ALSO suspicious).
If the Fault is steady on, then there is something more seriously wrong.
Dont know what is the difference with and without battery.
